A hale of arrows and a thicket of spears put an end to that charge in later panels.

Doesn't seem all that ill-fated to me :I. I guess retreating back behind those stakes will be difficult if they get counter-charged but...

Not when they meet up against a ton of pikemen and arrows on all sides.

But um...I don't think there's evidence of the Ottomans ever deploying pikemen. They relied almost entirely on light infantry.

...they did have halberdiers though, I guess...

Or improvised spearmen. Armies occasionally experiment on tactics and weapon types. Besides this is a straggler army. We can speculate. :)

Haha I'm still unsure as to how that man's head happened to come off. It doesn't look like there is anyone near him who has swung a weapon lol XD. But you draw in a way I so wish I could emulate. But I can't draw a straight line without computer assistance lol. But some recent work I did was influenced by you, I also enjoy the bdsm harem theme. Here's a link to one of my favorites, I'd love to hear what you think! [link]

My apologies if this does sound nitpicky, but these turks look more like arabs to me (i'm sort of an amateur historian from the middle east, oman) otherwise a really great piece, i really love your art style.

During which siege? That of Rhodes in 1526? Though the Ottoman armies were composed of many nations (most of the vassals), still they were quite an effective army, since until their defeats in 1529 and 1683 before the walls of Vienna, they were a nigh invincible force. They had the best artillery in Europe (they used to forge cannons on site of the siege if need be, and what's more, they would even reforge cannons to reuse enemy ammo!), and their infantry - the Jannisaries - was superb. :)

Correction, story starts after the the 2nd siege. My mistake. ;P

It's the late 1400's. It's a fictional castle in a plague infested land and this group of Ottomans is a lost straggler force from the sultans army that was beaten by Janos/Janko in the first seige of Belgrade.

These are two spent forces that have already been decimated but are still trying to make a glorious end of it all. :)

The guy deserves an epic movie. His historical significance cannot be over-stated. :)

He's equivalent to Arminius to the Germans.

Yes, he is! His impact was on history was larger, somewhat like John III Sobieski's defeat of the Turks at the 1629 Siege of Vienna. He averted for a while the armies of the Ottomans which were intent on conquering the rest of the "Roman" Empire. (They saw themselves as heirs to the legacy of the Roman Emperors of Constantinople) Cheers! :)

;p Not really a fair comparison. King Sobieski had a far more formidable force of professional troops and allies at his disposal, facing against an Ottoman force led by a less than competent commander. And by this time, Ottoman dominance was starting to wane.

Hunyadi on the other hand was facing an Ottoman empire in ascendancy, lead by the conqueror of Constantinople. He might as well had been facing a Julius Ceasar. :matrixfight:

Cheers :)

"You speak of death so lightly. We all die. Death is not a choice. It's what remains that matters. What will remain of you when you die?"

If you know sth about sth then it becomes lighter. The actions that we did will remain and will be remembered again.

"You show absolutely no respect for my work and my sacrifices yet you demand respect from me. You pretend to understand me but you don't. Copy/paste these words that you and I have written and read them again in 5 years. If your thoughts have not changed by then that would be a pity."

RESPECT? Respect to an insult?! Do you respect to who insults you? I have no intension to understand you from now on.You say "I insult you somehow and respect me" is that your idea? Maybe its a pity that you use a short-cut word like "I shall speak no more". Maybe ,reason is different than your explanation about me. Maybe your accusing be with babbling is also a disrespect?

In fact ,it is hard(or wrong) to speak when have no or little idea...

I could argue subject about Harem with you because it is not as you terribly draw and think but that would take alot of time so I call you for an better search rather than talk without knowledge. That would be better for both of us because sometimes words of an ignorant can be more terrible than killers blade...

On the other hand , you dont seem to be a man who care about right or respect. Surely , I never respect such behavior.

Of course I'm offended. I dont know you but we have things that we value.Thats not about choice. We dont say "Hmm. An insult. Lets play offended!". I wonder what would you do when somebody insult sth which see holy(if you have one)...I'm at least sure that you value your own life. What would you do when someone try to kill you? You may say "What is its concern?". The concern is we value sth more than you value your own life. I tried to explain it as simple as I can so that everyone (including you) could understand it not underestimate.

Freedom is not to do everything you want...

It is easy to speak of death when it is not in front of you. But death is a relief for a life without meaning.

I shall speak no more. At this point, you are already babbling and you are burying yourself by your own words.

Good bye.

I DO know the meaning of "ill fated". Please, Dont tell me that you wanted to show the "tragedy". I red your comments here and also other's. On the other hand , I have entered your "perverted" site and ofcourse regreted.

BDSM or not , I'm totally against such nonsence and perverted and "converted" ideas about us. The people that you have drawn here are my ancestors. Show RESPECT...

As a concession, how would you like them portrayed in a bdsm story?

Noting that they were the dominant power at the time and nearly all that came against them where beaten and enslaved as did the romans before them.

Tragedy my ass. BDSM does not give much crap about that. You really want to historically nitpick what others consider as porn, be my guess. As you say, this is nonsense.

Please, perversion is universal, no people is exempted. But I do respect the Ottomans for creating the Harems and enslaving europeans. They help make a good yarn. The greater the power, the greater the corruption.

If you want too feel offended it's your choice. You choose to see offense where there is none. Pretentious outrage only goes so far, it don't put food on the table nor give you a good nights sleep. Perhaps you plan to join politics. Righteous outrage seem to work with the masses. Inciting against imaginary foes. Becoming drunken mobs with the power of words.

I've seen this seed before, it cost many lives when that tree grew. My people have suffered under 3 imperial powers at the cost of millions of lives. We've known genocide even before that word was invented. Empires past and present, all the same to me. They all have blood in their hands.

An another ignorant enemy of Ottoman... I suppose you are copied , pasted and spreaded throughout the world.

Anyway, I'm 99% sure that you know nearly nothing about Ottomans. You know, this didnt happened as you have drown here.In medieval , Ottomans were invincible. Those are just your aggresive and jelous thought because you couldnt find too many scene in history. So you wanted to draw it as you "dreamed". If there is a scene like this in history , then , there are 1000 of counter of this. You westners were weak in medieval times. This is a truth. Like Fatih Sultan Mehmet Han said:

"Even their imagination cannot reach where my power reaches!"

Do you understand the meaning of 'Ill fated'? This is but one scene in many. :shakefist:

Like all great empires, the Ottomans over extended their reach and their succession system was not exactly ideal. A succession of weak leaders can bring even the greatest power to it's knees.

PS; This is a bdsm story, I can't believe your taking this seriously.

Yeah, It can be really draining with multiple scenes. :(

American style comics should be a little easier with all the posing and close-ups. And the division of labor between writers, pencillers, inkers, letterers and colorists :D

Well... I do it all because I don't like most of the stuff other writers send me. Maybe they just don't know what to do with me.

And the painting style I use does not leave room for inkers, another person in the mix will just complicate the process. :(
